BIOGRAPHY
Johnna Leary grew up singing along to Disney Princess movies and reading any book available. A somewhat reserved little girl but an extremely avid student, she discovered a life long love of acting and singing at a young age. Generally quirky, adorably awkward and very detail oriented, Johnna typically spends most of her time onstage, or on set as a high school teen, a nun or a saloon girl. It's all about balance.
After growing up as the daughter of two school teachers in a small town, Johnna always loves to learn. She spent time cantoring at her local Catholic church, singing in various school productions, at local music festivals and singing the National Anthem at high school sporting events (Since she isn't very athletic, it was nice to participate in sports in some way). After being diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at two years old, she developed a strong sense of perseverance at a young age, which now proves quite useful in the acting world.
While attending Shepherd University, Johnna enjoyed dividing time between studies, socializing with her musical sisters in Sigma Alpha Iota and writing about performances as the Arts and Styles Section Editor for the student university newspaper The Picket. (A typical college experience may have been when a History Channel mini series filmed near her college campus. Johnna was excused from a journalism class to work on the series...only to run into her journalism professor during a take while he was walking near the set and she was dressed as a World War I German Saloon Girl)
As an avid history lover, it's always a blast to step back into the past while on set performing in lead and featured roles on historical mini series and period piece TV shows. After graduating with a B.A. in Vocal Performance –Musical Theater from Shepherd University, Johnna played a variety of historical and musical roles on stage and screen in the Washington DC and Baltimore areas. Her favorite experience would have to tie between singing backup in a quartet with Josh Groban on his national tour....or that time she spent six months playing Princess Briar Rose/Sleeping Beauty in different children's theater productions of Sleeping Beauty, where she was paid to sing a song and then take a nap onstage for half of the show.
Johnna still enjoys making life a balancing act between performing, working, going swimming, taking some photos, sewing some cross-stitching, or posting far too infrequently for a not at all famous actor on social media (she's still working on that, promise).
